Togo at the Security Council

H.E. Mr. Menan KODJO assumed the rotating presidency at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the month of February 2012.

The role of the presidency is to preside over meetings of the council and also to be responsible for the organizing, co-ordianting and guiding the work of the council.

The presidency of the UNSC also offers an opportunity to promote a theme that is of particular regional or national importance.

The announcement was made by President Faure Gnassingbe on January 24th that for the public debate of February 21st, Togo has chosen the following theme: "Threats to peace and international security brought by criminality in West Africa and the Sahel". .
